President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he had held "productive talks" with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

The head of state wrote about this on Twitter, Rubryka reports.

"Held productive talks with Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz.

Discussed the situation on the frontline, further pressure on Russia, sanctions increase, the prospects of peace.

Appreciate Germany's support, including defensive one. We count on further German assistance on Ukraine's path to full membership in the EU," Zelensky said in a statement.

Earlier, Deputy Head of the President's Office Andrii Sybiha said that Zelensky would hold telephone conversations with Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron on May 17.

To recap, at a meeting on Monday, EU foreign ministers failed to reach an agreement on the sixth sanctions package and the oil embargo, in particular.

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that only one state continued to block sanctions.
