Cocoa without sugar and buckwheat without salt: what's wrong with the new school menu?

The idyll of the New Year holidays has just ended, and Ukrainians have a new reason for desperate battles. Since the beginning of the new school year, social media pages, parent chats, and comments under press publications have been on fire. The updated school menu is a topic that left no one indifferent. Rubryka found out what was on the children's plates from January 1 and why the new dishes created a ripple effect among parents.

What is the problem?

On January 1, 2022, the transition period for introducing new school nutrition standards ended. Ukrainian schools have started cooking for schoolchildren according to the new menu. In particular, now all schools are obliged to reduce the amount of bread, sugar, and salt, increase the amount of fruit, dairy products, and meat dishes when forming the menu. Approximately 75% of food in canteens should be of plant origin: vegetables, salads, cereals, fruits, and berries.

Not all children liked the unusual dishes, parents complain that the breakfasts and lunches they pay for go to the dump, and the children stay hungry. Well-known chef Yevhen Klopotenko, whose team worked on the development of a modern school diet, had to fight off the outraged parents the most.

Чи є в редакції літердактор чи коректор? текст виглядає як не надто добрий переклад з російської. Авторам би повчити українську, а редакції відмовитись від російськомвної версії. На кого вона розрахована?


А я считаю ,что уже давно нужно пересмотреть меню и в садиках и в школах! У нас стало очень много полных детей и то что уберут белые батоны, сосиски и сахар из рациона - это хорошо!! Нужно рацион делать более разнообразный а не оставлять совдеповский!
